Streaming : Known Issues and Fixes

Problem : Why doesn't my Stream appear? 

TWO common reasons :-

• Save doesn't Publish. Because a lot of the time people want to Save and come back (e.g., after finding a Co-performers socials). Save in effect saves a draft.
• Solution : Go to My Content, and if any show up with Published Status No, click them and then click Publish. 
• Publish has a built in 24 hour delay. This is for two reasons, one technical, one legal. The technical one is that uploads to the cloud can take a few hours to process, so if fans can see them before that completes, they will have a poor experience. The legal one is that we use this opportunity to compliance the paperwork. 

Problem : Video plays but quality is poor – seems stuck on a low setting like 240p 

• It is normal for streams to start low quality then pick up as the connection strength is established. Better than a frozen screen and spinning icon.
• A 240p stream is a stream, the user knows it’s working, and then quickly improves. 
• It is NOT normal for streams to be stuck at very low levels like 240 or 360, esp if you try next day and still have the same issue AND there are no status issues re your Internet provider. 
• If the stuck stream is fine if you manually push the quality up (in your browser, a setting in the video display field) , there has been an issue in building the stream syncing that lets it climb the quality to the maximum sustainable for the connection. 
• Solution : Edit the Stream and reupload the video, or (if you pulled the video from your storage into our Cloud) repaste the URL to pull from your storage.
